MY INSPIRATION | SOU FUJIMOTO | SERPENTINE PAVILLION in London

Sou Fujimoto has been an important inspiration to develop my project. I think his most interesting project is this (photos) because of the conexion between the environment respecting nature and studying the programe of this place. I like the way he has designed this structure because it is like if there isn't an structure because of its semi-transparency. With this idea of transparency, Sou creates a space where there is a shadow play but always letting the light passes. In addition, he has studied the program meticulously creating an space enjoyed for all the age groups like children, youths and elderly. They can do there what they want; they can relax, read a book, sunbathe, sit, talk with friends... 

With this inspiration, I want to create an structure which connects the city with the orchard respecting the environment and studying a lot the program like Sou Fujimoto.

Capturing the semi-transparent, multi-purpose social space situated in London, this delicate, three-dimensional structure is enjoyed by its visitors, creating an inviting social setting.

Fujimoto, the youngest architect to accept the Serpentine Gallery’s invitation at 41, describes his work as, “…a transparent terrain that encourages people to interact with and explore the site in diverse ways. Within the pastoral context of Kensington Gardens, I envisage the vivid greenery of the surrounding plant life woven together with a constructed geometry. A new form of environment will be created, where the natural and the man-made merge; not solely architectural nor solely natural, but a unique meeting of the two.”
